a healthy post!

I love to cook and eat healthy.  I absolutely love mexican food.  What is better then a steaming plate of veggie fajitas?  mmmm

Wreaths

This is my book page rosette wreath.  I took and old book I was going to donate and cut the pages out of it and rolled many, many, many little rosettes.  I hot glued them to a dollar store wreath and I just love it!  My camera is not the best so it does look a lot better in person.  Maybe santa will be our family a better camera ;)  Here is the great tutorial I found that I followed to make this.  http://www.bystephanielynn.com/2010/11/diy-faux-curled-rosewood-wreath-made.html

Here is an ornament wreath I made.  I used a wire hanger that my sweet hubby bent into a circle for me.  I got all the ornaments at the dollar store.  I needed close to 60 ornaments for this.  A package of 12 ornaments at the dollar store is yup you guessed it a dollar.  Grand total for this project $5.  I am not happy with the ribbon bow part.  I am going to play around with it some more so that the hanger part is hidden.  I was just excited that it was just about finished so I took a picture and shared.  Here is a great tutorial to make this.  http://www.eddieross.com/eddie_ross/2009/12/ornament-wreath-winner.html

Have a great Sunday!

Fun Frame

I am fortunate that I used to work in a frame shop in Hawaii.  Ten years later I still have all my lovely frames.  However, I am looking for a little update on said frames.  I have been busy painting some frames and creating such crafty useful decor.  My most recent transformation is this...

I removed the glass and backing, added eye hooks and strung rustic string across.  Then, I added some mini clips.  I painted it a sage green then sanded a bit to distress.  I had an idea to hang it in my kitchen where I can clip a recipe on it.  I love having my recipe right there to look at as I am cooking.  Of course my two cute kids are awesome inspiration to look at also.  Love it!  Hoping santa brings our family a new camera so my pictures will look a whole lot better.  Cheers!

Birthday cake

My sweet little girl recently turned three.  She wanted a rainbow cake.  I found one on a blog I can't recall which one right now.  I will give credit when I find her lovely blog again.  I think it turned out cute and she loved it!  This was my first attempt at a six layer cake.
